Bucks County Firearms Dealer Charged with Supplying Guns to Convicted Felon

The charges stem from a months-long investigation spearheaded by the Attorney General’s Philadelphia Gun Violence Task Force

HARRISBURG —  Attorney General Dave Sunday announced charges against a Bucks County-based firearms dealer who allegedly illegally transferred two guns to a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Scott Liebowitz, 31, of Feasterville-Trevose, a Federal Firearms Licensee, is charged with two counts of Violation of the Uniform Firearms Act (VUFA) – Illegally Transferring a Firearm, conspiracy, corrupt organizations, and unlawful use of a communication facility.

The Office of Attorney General Philadelphia Gun Violence Task Force investigation revealed that Liebowitz sold two handguns to Nicholas Mimoso — who is charged with the same offenses, and was also charged last year with drug and firearms trafficking.

According to the criminal complaint, Liebowitz and Mimoso conspired to complete the purchase of the firearms using a third person as the documented purchaser.  Liebowitz then physically provided the guns to Mimoso.

“This is another example of the excellent collaborative work being done by our Philadelphia Gun Violence Task Force,” Attorney General Sunday added. “In the past year, the Gun Violence Task Force has seized hundreds of illegally possessed and transferred firearms.”

Both Liebowitz and Mimoso were charged and arraigned late last week. Liebowitz’s bail was set at $100,000, and bail was set at $275,000 for Mimoso, who is currently incarcerated.

Mimoso was charged in March 2024 with a number of crimes regarding drug and firearms trafficking and possession. Investigators recovered 11 firearms and two illegal switches in that case.

The cases are being prosecuted by Office of Attorney General Gun Violence Task Force Senior Deputy Attorney General Maggie Hayes-Oberst. Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
