HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Northampton County man will serve 12 to 24 years in prison for possessing more than 100 files of child sexual abuse material.

Matthew John Kocher, 32, previously pleaded guilty to numerous felony counts of sexual abuse of children and was sentenced this week in Northampton County Court. Kocher will also serve three years of probation and be under sex offender supervision conditions following release.

“Our Child Predator Section continues to rid communities of offenders who abuse and exploit children,” Attorney General Sunday said. “We hope a sentence of years and years behind bars serves as a deterrent to anyone who thinks viewing these kinds of photographs and videos are minor crimes.”

Responding to a cybertip, Office of Attorney General agents traced file-sharing to Kocher. Agents last year seized devices from Kocher at his place of employment in Bethlehem and at his home in Nazareth.

The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michelle Laucella of the Child Predator Section.
