HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Luzerne County woman and her mother were both sentenced Wednesday to significant state prison terms for the repeated abuse of a child — abuse involving beatings, restraint and starvation of the child.
Amanda Gregorio, the child’s mother, was sentenced to 10 to 40 years in prison. She previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a child.
Stacey Louder, the child’s grandmother, was sentenced to 8 to 30 years in prison. She previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a child.
“This home was supposed to be a safe haven for this child, but instead, the defendants turned it into a house of horrors as they, time and time again, subjected the girl to a spectrum of abuse,” Attorney General Sunday said. “We commend the Court for recognizing this heinous behavior and the long-lasting trauma inflicted on this brave child.”
At sentencing Wednesday, prosecutors and investigators told the judge that the girl, then 11, was failed on every level by her mother and grandmother, calling the situation a “travesty.”
The abuse was discovered in August of 2024 when EMS was called to a home for a seizure involving a child. Medical professionals discovered bruising all over the child’s body, and other signs of abuse. The child also was malnourished.
The cases are being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney Generals Rachael Coleman and Mary Phillips.
