HARRISBURG – Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that Elias Dominguez was sentenced to 21 ¾ to 43 ½ years in prison for raping an 11-year-old child in Luzerne County in 2019.
Dominguez was convicted last year of rape and other offenses, and was sentenced last week.
“An 11-year-old child should never have to endure this kind of horrific abuse,” Attorney General Sunday said. “This sentence holds the defendant accountable and ensures he will spend decades behind bars for the harm he inflicted on this brave survivor.”
After hearing evidence that Dominguez meets the criteria for Pedophilic Disorder and that his behavior was predatory in nature, the Court designated Dominguez as a “sexually violent predator” under the law. Based on the Court’s designation, Dominguez be required to register as a sex offender for life, undergo monthly offender counselling.
As part of his sentence, Dominguez was ordered to undergo sex offender treatment, have no contact with the victim or their family, have no unsupervised contact with minors, and not to frequent locations where children congregate or are likely to congregate.
The investigation began after Dominguez raped the child at a Hazleton home in 2019. The child disclosed the abuse to a classmate, who told a teacher. The teacher then reported the allegations to ChildLine.
The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Jaime Keating.
