CLEARFIELD — Attorney General Dave Sunday, along with Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers and other county leadership, announced the graduation of eight individuals who completed the LETI program — an Office of Attorney General-administered program that diverts qualified candidates to treatment in lieu of criminal prosecution.

The graduates each were facing criminal charges and chose to enter the LETI program, successfully completing all requirements.

On Wednesday, they were honored with certificates at a ceremony attended by Attorney General Sunday, District Attorney Sayers, and area law enforcement and community leaders.

“These graduates have made the difficult decision to face their challenges head-on, and I commend them for doing the work to complete the LETI program,” Attorney General Sunday said. “We must embrace redemption, and empower and support people dealing with substance abuse struggles.”

One of the graduates, Jaden, talked about how the program offered her rehab and counseling — and, ultimately, recovery — after a DUI incident two years ago. Jaden has been sober for nearly two years.

District Attorney Sayers said the LETI program has a nearly 50 percent success rate for participants. He said the program has brought tremendous benefits to the community.

Christopher Grunthaner, Executive Director of Clearfield-Jefferson Drug and Alcohol Commission, said the graduates provide a “beacon of hope” for others dealing with substance abuse disorder.

Later this month, the Office of Attorney General expects to make public announcements regarding the 31st and 32nd counties to launch the LETI program.
