Attorney General Sunday Obtains Refunds for Ticketholders Impacted by the Sudden Closure of HMAC

June 12, 2026 | Topic: Consumers

HARRISBURG – Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that his office worked cooperatively with online ticketing provider, EventIM, which previously sold tickets on behalf of the now closed Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center (HMAC) through the website seetickets.com, to provide consumers with refunds for tickets purchased for shows that were canceled due to the closure of HMAC.

HMAC abruptly announced its permanent closure in February 2026. HMAC indicated that the business was filing for bankruptcy and would not refund consumers who purchased tickets for the cancelled shows in 2026. Instead, HMAC publicly advised ticket purchasers to file credit disputes with their credit card companies to try to get their money back. Numerous consumers who filed credit card disputes reported that their dispute was denied by their credit card company, which in turn denied them a refund for the cancelled show.

The Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Consumer Protection obtained an arrangement with EventIM – who sold all of the tickets for 2026 HMAC shows – to provide all ticket purchasers with a complete refund of their ticket purchase.

“I appreciate the willingness of EventIM to step up and do the right thing in this situation by refunding consumers for the ticket costs,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Consumers purchase tickets to see their favorite entertainers, and they expect the venue will refund those tickets when something goes wrong. EventIM had no obligation to refund these consumers their ticket costs, but chose integrity by offering these refunds instead of blaming others for mistakes made.”

Any consumer who purchased a ticket for an HMAC show and has not already received a refund should email he**@********ts.com. The email should include the day of the show and the order number. EventIM will process all verified refunds, with the funds to be returned in approximately 14 days.

This resolution came about through discussions initiated by Senior Deputy Attorney General Paul D. Edger.
