HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a former IT tech for a Washington County school district was jailed up to eight years for possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
A Washington County Judge on Monday sentenced 48-year-old Jason Wayne Ayres to 4 to 8 years in prison, following Ayres’ guilty plea to two felony counts of sexual abuse of children.
Ayres was a contracted IT tech for Peters Township School District at the time of his arrest. (The charged conduct does not involve students at the district.)
“This defendant worked among students and in a school setting while he possessed at his home files depicting horrific acts involving young children,” Attorney General Sunday said. “Anyone who possesses or shares this content is abusing and exploiting kids, and my office will not tolerate such behavior.”
As part of the sentence, Ayres must register as a sex offender for 15 years following release from prison.
The Office of Attorney General received a tip last year regarding file-sharing at Ayres home, and eventually served a search warrant at his Washington home. Ayres was taken into custody at a school and admitted to having CSAM on a laptop.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Alison Bragle of the Child Predator Section.
