HARRISBURG – Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Northumberland County jury convicted Michael Bishop of felony indecent assault, felony corruption of minors and misdemeanor indecent assault for sexually abusing an 11-year-old child.

Bishop will be sentenced on September 2, 2026.

“This conviction ensures accountability for a defendant who violated a position of trust and caused lasting harm to a child,” Attorney General Sunday said. “I commend the victim for their courage in coming forward and thank everyone who helped bring this case to justice. Protecting children and bringing those who exploit them to justice is a solemn duty for us all and one my office will never relent from.”

The investigation began after the victim’s mother discovered messages on the child’s phone and reported it to ChildLine. During the investigation, a friend of the defendant came forward and reported that Bishop had admitted to the abuse.

Following this admission, Pennsylvania State Police charged Bishop.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Rachael Coleman and Senior Deputy Attorney General Julie Danchak.
