Attorney General Shapiro and Governor Wolf will join representatives from local, state, and federal agencies to announce the creation of the Pennsylvania Reentry Council (PRC). The PRC will bring reentry stakeholders together from around the Commonwealth to improve reentry efforts in an effort to reduce recidivism in Pennsylvania to enhance community safety. The PRC will also establish best reentry practices and educate the public about the challenges of reentry. The press conference will feature El Sawyer, of Philadelphia, who served time in Graterford Prison and is now a filmmaker focusing on reentry issues, and Melanie Snyder, Director of the Lancaster Reentry Management Organization, who will speak about the need to improve reentry policies, practices, and programs. Immediately, following the press conference, the inaugural meeting of the PRC will be held at the Office of the Attorney General and will be attended by stakeholders from around the Commonwealth.
