Opportunities

The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General has a variety of career opportunities for professionals, students, and recent graduates who are ready to serve the Commonwealth. These are a few of the paths that may align with your goals and interests.

Attorney

Broad civil and criminal law powers and duties are vested in the Office of Attorney General. These duties are performed primarily within three Divisions; Public Protection Division, Civil Law Division, and Criminal Law Division. Attorneys in these Divisions practice before the Courts of Common Pleas of the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Superior Court, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the Federal Courts, and, on occasion, the United States Supreme Court.

Agents and Investigators

Broad civil and criminal law powers and duties are vested in the Office of Attorney General. These duties are performed primarily within three Divisions; Public Protection Division, Civil Law Division, and Criminal Law Division. Agents and investigators, both sworn and unsworn, in these Divisions investigate, collect, and analyze evidence to support cases within the Office of Attorney General’s jurisdiction.

Executive and Administrative

Legal assistants, clerical support, and employees in administrative positions play a significant role in the success of the Office of Attorney General. Many of the administrative employees fall within the Operations Division which includes Human Resources, Office Services, Comptroller, Information Technology, Litigation Support, and Financial Management.

Internships

The Office of Attorney General is pleased to provide an intern and volunteer program which offers a variety of opportunities for students to gain valuable work experience while reflecting the demands and rewards of state service. Whether a legal, undergraduate, or graduate student, Interns work alongside attorneys and administrative staff to promote the interests of the Commonwealth and its people.

Honors Fellowship Program

The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General Honors Fellowship Program has been established to provide driven, recent law graduates who are committed to public service the opportunity to gain practical experience in the public sector. This competitive program accepts applications from current law students seeking post-graduation employment by means of a one-year fellowship.
