HARRISBURG – Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that a Bedford County man has been convicted of felony aggravated assault for slashing a man’s throat outside a bar in 2021.
A Bedford County jury returned its verdict Friday evening against Brian David Taylor, following testimony regarding the Nov. 5, 2021, incident outside Rookeez bar in Bedford.
The Office of Attorney General presented evidence that Taylor and the victim initially engaged in an altercation inside the bar. The two men went outside where Taylor immediately pulled a knife that he had concealed and slashed the victim’s throat.
Taylor, 52, will be sentenced on June 24.
This was an extremely violent act by a defendant who, without a doubt, intended serious harm for the victim, Attorney General Henry said. I commend the jurors for carefully considering the evidence and reaching a just verdict that holds the defendant accountable for this disturbing act of violence.
The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was treated with staples and sutures and was able to recover.
Taylor tried to flee the scene after the assault, but bystanders stopped him.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Joseph M. Sembrot prosecuted the case and won the conviction.
