State Champions Advance to National Competition

HARRISBURG – Dallas High School bested four other teams to capture the Pennsylvania State LifeSmarts Championship after successfully answering questions on real-life marketplace issues during a competition hosted by the Office of Attorney General in Harrisburg.

LifeSmarts is a national consumer education competition that challenges students in grades 6-8 (Junior Varsity) and 9-12 (Varsity) about personal finance, health and safety, the environment, technology and workforce development, and consumer rights and responsibilities.

“These students gain the consumer ‘smarts’ they need to succeed in the real world,” Attorney General Dave Sunday said. “We are proud to have Dallas High School represent the Commonwealth at the National LifeSmarts Championship.”

Teens from across the Commonwealth first competed online for the opportunity to advance to the state finals, held at the Office of Attorney General in Harrisburg. As the Varsity State Champion, Dallas High School has earned a spot in the 2026 National LifeSmarts Championship, to be held April 15-18 in Orlando, Florida. There, the team will compete against top students from across the country for the Florence Kelley Cup, as well as scholarships and prizes.

“LifeSmarts participants win by learning to avoid common consumer pitfalls and scams, navigate the government, prepare for their financial futures, and so much more,” Cheryl Varnadoe, Associate Program Director of the National LifeSmarts Program, said.

The other teams who participated in the Pennsylvania State LifeSmarts Finals included North East High School, Cumberland Valley High School, Upper Dublin High School and Pine Grove Area High School.
