HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced criminal charges against a Northumberland County man accused of soliciting sex from a person he believed to be a 14 year-old girl. The person the man was communicating with was an agent with the Attorney General’s Child Predator Section working undercover.
Jadan D. Notarangelo, 28, of Milton, was arrested following an online investigation by the Child Predator Section. Investigators received a report that Notarangelo used Facebook to contact a girl who was actually 12 years old. Posing as a 14-year-old friend of the girl, the Child Predator Section agent made contact online with Notarangelo. He sent sexually explicit messages and requested nude photographs from the undercover agent, leading to his arrest by agents with the Child Predator Section and Milton police earlier this week.
In announcing the arrest, Attorney General Shapiro emphasized: “Our agents believe this defendant may have had contact with other minors online through Facebook and text messaging over the last year. Anyone with information about this case or defendant should contact us immediately.”
People with information can call the Child Predator Hotline at 1-800-385-1044. Individuals who suspect an online predator or child sexual abuse can send anonymous tips by texting PAKIDS + YOUR TIP to 847411.
The Child Predator Section started its investigation of Notarangelo after receiving a referral this month from Milton Police. “We are grateful Milton Police reached out and helped us arrest this defendant as quickly as possible,” Shapiro said. “Law enforcement cooperation helps make our communities safer.”
Notarangelo, of the 100 block of Wood St., is charged with numerous counts of unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication facility. Bail was set at $100,000 at a preliminary arraignment. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 26.
This case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones of the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section.
