Five Family Members Sold $134K Worth of Cocaine in 12 Months
HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced that two of five family members involved in the operation of a cocaine ring in Clearfield County have been sentenced to jail terms for their crimes.
Pamela Gavlak, the mother-in-law of ringleader Todd Anderson, was sentenced to 22 months to five years’ in state prison before Clearfield County President Judge Fred Ammerman. Catherine Anderson, Todd Anderson’s wife, was sentenced to 11 ½ months to two years’ in jail. Gavlak and Anderson were charged along with three other family members in August 2017. The dealers brought and sold $134,000 worth of cocaine into Clearfield from Beaver County.
“This drug ring was selling more than $10,000 of cocaine a month – pumping their poison into Clearfield and surrounding communities,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. “People in Clearfield County are fed up. We hear them and we’ve taken action. Today, these cocaine dealers have been sentenced to jail.”
A statewide investigating grand jury recommended the family of dealers be charged with violations of the drug act, conspiracy, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activity and corrupt organizations. All also faced felony charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Todd Anderson and Leroy Bryant recently were sentenced to eight to 16 years’ in prison. Robert Gavlak also was previously sentenced to 11 ½ to 23 months’ in jail for his role in the cocaine ring.
Senior Deputy Attorney General David Gorman prosecuted the cases.
