HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Beaver County man has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter for punching a man during a 2021 bar dispute, which led to a fatal blood clot.
Kijana Lowe, 28, of Aliquippa, was sentenced Wednesday to two to five years in prison. He was also ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution towards funeral costs.
Lowe punched the victim outside of a Beaver County bar, which led to the victim being hospitalized and undergoing surgery. The man died about two weeks later due to a resulting blood clot.
“This defendant’s actions were callous and without regard for human life, and led to a man’s tragic death,” Attorney General Sunday said. “We hope this guilty plea offers a measure of justice to the victim’s loved ones who will forever be impacted by this incident.”
The sentence will run concurrently to a 10-year federal sentence Lowe received on a drug trafficking conviction earlier this year. The Office of Attorney General investigated that case, which involved the recovery of 10 kilograms of cocaine.
This case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Kara Cotter of the Bureau of Narcotics Section.
