August 4, 2017 | Topic: Criminal

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced charges against a Luzerne County man for sexual abuse and corruption of a minor.

Thomas Patrick Orr, 66, of Turnberry Lane, Hazle Township, was charged with asking a minor to perform sexual acts when she was 16 and 17 years old. On several occasions, Orr had the victim perform sexual acts and send them to him over social media. The victim also performed a sex act on Orr, and Orr performed sexual acts on her during that time.

“We work tirelessly to identify and remove child predators from our streets and our communities,” Attorney General Shapiro said. “We have a zero tolerance policy for the sexual abuse of children. Sexual contact with a minor is a felony and we will prosecute this offender to the fullest extent the law allows.”

Orr was arrested yesterday and charged with sexual abuse of children for the purpose of creating child pornography, unlawful contact with a minor and related charges.

Attorney General Shapiro thanked law enforcement for their collaboration. “The Pennsylvania State Police was very helpful with this investigation,” Attorney General Shapiro said. “Law enforcement collaboration helps makes our communities safer.”

Senior Deputy Attorney General Barney Anderson will prosecute the case. Bail was set at $100,000. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for August 16.
