Drug dealer arrested in possession of 1 kilo of cocaine, more than $116,000 cash
HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced felony charges against three Pittsburgh-area people after an investigation utilizing a wiretap led to the seizure of a weapon, drugs including one kilogram of cocaine (approximately $36,000 street value) and more than $116,000 cash in Wilkinsburg.
“I’m working to keep Pennsylvanians safe in their neighborhoods, and taking down illegal drug operations like this one is a part of that mission. Drug dealers push poison into our communities, increasing the effects of the heroin and opioid epidemics, and putting us all at risk,” said Attorney General Shapiro. “I’m proud to partner with local law enforcement agencies doing this difficult work on the ground every single day in communities across the Commonwealth.”
This week, Office of Attorney General agents monitored a cell phone that was used by one defendant, Sharron Fields. As a result of that monitored conversation, a second defendant, Keith Quarles, was stopped in Wilkinsburg Borough after meeting with Fields. Quarles was found to be in possession of 1 gram of crack cocaine.
OAG agents then stopped Fields, who was also found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine. Agents then searched his vehicle and recovered almost $20,000 cash, after which agents secured search warrants for three residences associated with Fields. The search warrants were executed at homes on the 200 block of Stotler Road, Pittsburgh; the 9900 block of Frankstown Road, Pittsburgh; and the 600 block of North Avenue, Wilkinsburg. Seized from the three properties were one kilogram of cocaine, almost $97,000 cash, money counters and packaging material, drug paraphernalia including digital scales, a .9 mm Taurus semi-automatic weapon and ammunition.
Sharron Fields, 49, is charged with corrupt organization, possession, and possession with intent to deliver. Keith Quarles, 59, is charged with corrupt organization, possession and possession with intent to deliver. Fields bail is set at $50,000. Preliminary hearings for both men are set for November 19. The cases will be prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Katherine Jordan. The police departments of Penn Hills, Monroeville, Wilkinsburg, and Swissvale, and the Pennsylvania State Police assisted with this investigation.
