HARRISBURG — Attorney General Michelle Henry released the following statement regarding a shooting in Philadelphia late Thursday night that killed one police officer and wounded a second officer:
“Today, I join Pennsylvanians and the communities in Philadelphia in mourning the loss of a veteran police officer, who was shot and killed Thursday night at Philadelphia International Airport. Our thoughts are also with a second officer, and his family, who was wounded in the same incident.
“I want to offer my sincerest condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the officer who died a hero, bravely responding to a criminal act in progress. He gave his life doing what he had for decades prior to this tragic incident — selflessly serving and defending his community from harm.
“We wish for healing and recovery for the second officer who has also devoted many years protecting and serving the residents of Philadelphia. May we stand together, humbled by these officers and their actions, and honor their sacrifices.”
