HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Philadelphia man will serve at least 20 years in prison for possessing child sexual abuse material — found during a check-in by state parole agents.
Eugene Wampole, 59, was previously convicted of indecent assault of a pre-teen child in Montgomery County and served a state prison sentence.
The Office of Attorney General assisted state parole and the FBI in the recent investigation, and prosecuted Wampole on five new felony charges.
On Tuesday, a Philadelphia County Judge deemed Wampole a sexually violent predator and sentenced him to 20 to 41 years in state prison.
“This resolution ensures a repeat offender will not be able to do further harm to any child,” Attorney General Sunday said. “I commend the investigative agencies who discovered this defendant was violating his parole by continuing to exploit children.”
Regarding the prior conviction, Wampole was sentenced to one to five years in prison, followed by parole and probation terms.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Michelle Laucella prosecuted the recent case.
