HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday was unanimously elected to serve as Eastern Region Chairperson for the nonpartisan National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG).

As region chair, Attorney General Sunday will oversee coordination of the region’s annual meeting, which will convene all participating Attorneys General to a location in Pennsylvania.

NAAG is a nonpartisan association that facilitates interaction among the 56 state and territory Attorneys General. Under NAAG leadership, the Attorneys General often meet for discussions and training on trending issues, legal developments, and topics affecting communities.

“I am humbled to be selected, and it will be my great honor to serve in this vital leadership role,” Attorney General Sunday said. “I made a pledge to work on behalf of Pennsylvanians, and that work includes setting aside political parties or affiliation to achieve goals that increase public safety, preserve the rights of residents, and protect the rule of law. This association exemplifies how nonpartisan collaboration benefits every person and family in our great Commonwealth.

”I look forward to hosting the annual meeting, where Pennsylvania will be on a national stage, and challenges affecting Pennsylvanians will be among the agenda items for the assembled group of Attorneys General.”

Attorney General Sunday and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General have been active participants in NAAG initiatives. Recently, Attorney Sunday led a pair of letters — to Congress and software development and distribution companies — outlining the risks of artificial intelligence and the need for better safeguards and protections from associated harm; and a separate letter calling on Congress to pass the Workforce Reentry Act.

Attorney General Sunday was selected as Eastern Region Chair during NAAG’s Capital Forum event last week in Washington, D.C.

NAAG’s Eastern Region includes Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts,  New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Attorney General Sunday currently serves as co-chair of the NAAG Consumer Protection Committee.
