HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced the arrest of an Allentown-based drug trafficker after agents seized more than six kilograms of cocaine, five handguns, and a ghost gun with a high-capacity magazine.

Angel F. Gil, 32, is charged with felony drug-trafficking and six counts of possession of a prohibited firearm — as Gil has prior felony convictions for drug trafficking and firearms possession.

The Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigations had been investigating Gil as a cocaine trafficker in the Lehigh and Northampton County regions prior to search warrants Wednesday at two residences and two vehicles connected to Gil.

”I am pleased to inform Lehigh Valley residents that a dangerous, high-level cocaine trafficker has been charged and taken off the street,” Attorney General Sunday said. “This defendant is a repeat offender who possessed deadly weapons, with enhancements for increased proficiency, to protect his highly-profitable drug trade. I commend our law enforcement partners for ensuring this was a secure and productive takedown that will make neighborhoods safer.”

Office of Attorney General agents were assisted by Allentown Police Department, Slate Belt Regional Police Department, and Emmaus Police Department’s K-9 Unit.

Searches were conducted at homes on Greenleaf Street in Allentown and Bangor Road in Nazareth, where three handguns, a kilogram of cocaine, and cash were seized.

Officials also searched two of Gil’s vehicles where an additional five kilograms of cocaine were found — well-concealed, in “trap” console locations — along with two other handguns, a ghost gun, ammunition, and $35,000 cash.

Gil was arraigned Wednesday afternoon when bail was set at $500,000.

The case will be prosecuted by the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office. Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
