Internship Opportunities

The PA Office of Attorney General offers internships for currently enrolled students year round in offices all over Pennsylvania. Whether a legal, undergraduate, or graduate student, Interns work alongside attorneys and administrative staff to promote the interests of the Commonwealth and its people. Interns also meet and hear from leaders in law and government, and may participate in other group educational programs during their time at OAG.

Environmental Crimes Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Criminal Law Division: Harrisburg (19031101)

The Office of Attorney General, Environmental Crimes Section investigates and prosecutes violations of state environmental laws governing the processing, transportation, storage, or disposal of municipal, residual and hazardous waste. In conjunction with environmental crimes, the Section prosecutes traditional Crimes Code offenses including, but not limited to, tampering with public records, forgery, unsworn falsification, reckless endangerment, criminal conspiracy, corrupt organizations, money laundering, vandalism, deceptive business practices and theft. Charitable Trusts & Organizations Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Public Protection Division: Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia (19033101)

The Charitable Trusts and Organizations Section protects the public’s interest in all property committed to charitable purposes.  Among its responsibilities, the Section oversees nonprofit corporations generally, including nonprofit mergers, conversions and acquisitions, and may seek to revoke an organization’s franchise and articles whenever it misuses, abuses or fails to use its powers and privileges correctly. Fair Labor Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Public Protection Division: Philadelphia (19033103)

The Fair Labor Section partners with labor organizations, community groups, nonprofit and professional associations, other Attorneys General labor sections, and government agencies to investigate and pursue legal and policy actions to end unlawful and/or discriminatory workplace practices. The Fair Labor Section also conducts public outreach to educate workers and the public regarding workers’ rights Accepting applications until July 15, 2019.

Bureau of Consumer Protection Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Public Protection Division: Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Pittsburgh (19033102)

The Bureau of Consumer Protection mediates and investigates consumer complaints. It takes legal action against companies that engage in unfair or deceptive business practices in cases where a lawsuit by the Attorney General serves the public interest and benefits the citizens of the Commonwealth. Antitrust Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Public Protection Division: Harrisburg (19033104)

The Antitrust Section helps protect the free enterprise system by detecting anticompetitive practices and taking legal action to stop them.  The Section brings legal actions to recover overcharges paid by consumers and state agencies as the result of violations of state and federal antitrust laws.  The Section also reviews and challenges mergers which may result in consumers or state agencies paying higher prices or which will harm Pennsylvania’s economy. Criminal Prosecutions Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Criminal Law Division: Wilkes Barre (19031102)

The Criminal Prosecutions Section investigates and prosecutes a complete spectrum of crimes ranging from the simplest of misdemeanors, to complex corrupt organizations and conspiracies, to first degree murder cases wherein the death penalty is sought and sentenced. Tax Litigation Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Civil Law Division: Harrisburg (19032101)

Tax Litigation represents the Commonwealth in litigation of state tax appeals from the Board of Finance and Revenue to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania and beyond. It handles an active caseload of over 2,000 cases, more than half of which involve corporate and sales and use taxes. The majority of the remaining cases involve personal income taxes. Accepting applications until July 15, 2019.

Litigation Section Legal Intern – Fall 2019 - Civil Law Division: Harrisburg, Norristown (19032102)

The Litigation Section represents the Commonwealth and its agencies, officials, and employees in a wide variety of lawsuits, usually in federal court, most of which concern the constitutionality of state statutes, the operation of state programs, the conduct of state law enforcement officers, the administration of state prisons, or the employment practices of state agencies. Accepting applications until July 15, 2019.
