CASE UPDATE: Beaver County Man Who Sent Unsolicited Child Pornography Held for Trial

March 27, 2018 | Topic: Criminal

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that a Beaver County man charged with possession of child pornography has been held for trial following a preliminary hearing.

Brent Cotman, 31, of White Street, Rochester, faces felony charges for sending unsolicited text and social media messages containing images of child pornography and making threating telephone calls to approximately 40 victims, three of whom were minors. Attorney General Shapiro credits the success of the year-long investigation to strong law enforcement collaboration with Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier’s Office, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and local police departments.

“My office will prosecute anyone that tries to prey on children to the fullest extent of the law,” Attorney General Shapiro said. “This man sent inappropriate, unsolicited images to dozens of people – some of whom were minors. My office will hold him accountable for his actions.”
