CASE UPDATE: Court Revokes Former Leechburg Police Chief’s Bond

May 9, 2018 | Topic: Criminal

HARRISBURG — Following his January arrest for unlawful contact with a minor and related charges, bail was revoked for the former Leechburg Police Chief after he violated the terms of his bond. He will continue to be detained, pending trial.

Michael Diebold, 40, had his bond revoked yesterday after violating the conditions of his bail. Prosecutors brought evidence that Diebold had unsupervised contact with his minor son after Office of Attorney General agents spotted the defendant outside of his wife’s residence carrying their son. Sources also reported that Diebold had accessed the Internet, which he was not allowed to do under the bond conditions.

“This case is particularly heinous because the perpetrator is a public official, sworn to serve and protect the community,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said. “This former police chief violated the conditions of his bond by going online and using the Internet, and having unauthorized contact with his minor son. He violated those conditions, and now, he’ll be detained until trial.”

This case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Chuck Washburn.
