Former Lackawanna County Attorney Sentenced to Up to 23 Months in Prison for Soliciting Sex Acts in Exchange for Legal Services

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Michelle Henry announced that a former Lackawanna County defense attorney, Corey Kolcharno, was sentenced to 4-23 months in prison, followed by 2 years probation, for providing his legal services to female clients in exchange for sexual acts and materials.

Kolcharno, 49, was sentenced Thursday in Lackawanna County Court. He previously pleaded guilty to four felony counts of promoting prostitution.

Kolcharno was required to surrender his license to practice law.

“The defendant’s behavior in these cases was despicable. He preyed on clients and their relatives who  had fallen on hard times and exploited their vulnerabilities for his own gratification,” said Attorney General Michelle Henry. “This sentencing holds Kolcharno accountable for his crimes.”

An investigation by the Office of Attorney General and the Pennsylvania State Police revealed that Kolcharno used his position as an attorney to solicit sexual acts and materials from clients and one client’s sister between 2018 and 2022. Many of the women were struggling with addiction, had a history of being sexually abused, or were enduring other challenges.

This case was referred to the Office of Attorney General by the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office and was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Anthony Forray.
