AG Shapiro Cracks Down on Meth Trafficking as Usage Rises in PA
HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that a Somerset County man was sentenced to 16 months – 5 years in state prison for dealing crystal methamphetamine. Jeffrey Mostoller, 52, of Somerset, was one of five individuals arrested in June 2017 for operating a drug trafficking organization in Somerset County following a statewide grand jury investigation. He pleaded guilty to Corrupt Organizations, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Deliver, and Criminal Use of a Communication Facility.
“Crystal meth trafficking is on the rise in Pennsylvania, specifically in our rural communities like Somerset County, and my Office is committed to investigating and prosecuting anyone who peddles these poisons,” said Attorney General Shapiro. “I’m grateful for the hard work of our agents and prosecutors to get this drug dealer off the streets and keep the people of Somerset County safe.”
The sentence was handed down by President Judge D. Gregory Geary in Somerset County Court of Common Pleas. The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Tomm Mutschler. Another member of the organization, Bryan Mitchell, was also sentenced on Monday to 9 months – 2 years in state prison after pleading guilty to one count of Delivery.
