HARRISBURG–Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced one of two people charged in a 2018 campaign fraud case in Northampton County pleaded guilty today to multiple counts of False Signatures and Statements in Nomination Petitions.
Amber Correll, who was charged with co-defendant Jake Towne following a grand jury investigation, forged the names of individuals who appeared on nomination papers. Her sentence will be determined following Towne’s trial in February.
“The integrity of our elections must be preserved and my office works every day to ensure people like these co-defendants are held accountable when they break the law,” Attorney General Shapiro said. “There should never be a doubt that the men and women who appear on ballots or work to gather the signatures needed to get candidates before voters are following the law and doing honest work.”
Towne coordinated with Correll to obtain signatures for 7th Congressional District Candidate Tim Silfies, a member of the Libertarian Party.
Senior Deputy Attorney General Nicole Forzato is prosecuting this case.
