HARRISBURG”Attorney General Shapiro today announced that Brian Hopersberger of Luzerne County was sentenced to 20-40 years for possession and distribution of child pornography.
Hopersberger was first charged by the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section in 2015, when agents conducting an online investigation confirmed that an IP address at his residence was downloading and sharing videos of child pornography over a file-sharing service.
In February 2020, Hopersberger stood trial and was convicted of, 106 counts of possessing child pornography, 3 counts of distributing child pornography and one related charge, totaling 110 counts.
“I will prosecute anyone who participates in the online sexual exploitation of children to the fullest extent of the law,” said Attorney General Shapiro. “Thanks to the outstanding work of our Child Predator Section, Brian Hopersberger will stay behind bars, far away from children and with felony convictions that will stick with him for life.”
