HARRISBURG–Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that George Karagiannis, of Wayne County, was found guilty of charges related to the sexual assault of two children in Carbon County.
“Today’s guilty verdict ensures that Karagiannis will be held accountable for his crimes and that his victims will finally receive justice,” said AG Shapiro. “My Office is committed to protecting and standing up for the safety of children across the Commonwealth. Karagiannis and other bad actors like him, will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
In 2020, Karagiannis began talking to the victims, ages 12 and 13 at the time, through social media. Karagiannis asked the girls to send him nude photographs and to meet him for sexual contact. In May 2020, he met the girls at a local park where he sexually assaulted them.
Following a trial, a jury found Karagiannis guilty of sexually assaulting the two minors including Aggravated Indecent Assault and related charges.
