HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration announced charges against an Allegheny County man regarding trafficking cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine in Armstrong and Allegheny counties.
Glenn Thomas Jr., 36, was arrested this week following search warrants at his apartment and stash house that uncovered $120,000 worth of cocaine, other drugs, and two handguns (one reported stolen).
Thomas is charged with drug-trafficking and firearms offenses and will be prosecuted federally. He is being held on a detainer at Allegheny County Jail.
“This takedown shows what can happen when law enforcement at all levels works together to keep communities safe from drug traffickers,” Attorney General Sunday said. “We took a significant amount of drugs off the street, in addition to a dealer who illegally possessed firearms to protect his trade. When agencies come together like this, we can hit traffickers where it hurts and cut off the pipelines of poisons reaching neighborhoods.”
DEA Special Agent in Charge Thomas Hodnett said: “Individuals who distribute fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine are endangering the safety of the citizens of Pennsylvania. The DEA will continue to work alongside our partners from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office to identify, investigate, and arrest those responsible for distributing deadly drugs.”
Robinson Township Police Chief Timothy Westwood said: “It is with great pleasure that I get to recognize that the Robinson Township Police Department, in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General, has concluded a months-long investigation into a bad actor in our community. Detectives and Agents, through hard work and dedication to law enforcement, have taken an individual who was trafficking large amounts of narcotics and possessing illegal firearms in our community and the surrounding areas, off the street. I commend each and every Officer and Agent for their diligent effort in making our community a safer place to live and work. I look forward to an ongoing relationship between the Robinson Township Police Department and the fine men and women at the Office of the Attorney General and recognize this is one step of many, together, in safeguarding our communities.”
The investigation is the result of collaboration between the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the DEA, Alleghany County District Attorney’s Narcotic’s Enforcement Team, Robinson Township Police Department, North Fayette Police Department, Scott Township Police Department, Ross Township Police Department, McKees Rocks Police Department, and Adams Township Police Department.
During an investigation that involved surveillance, it was learned that Thomas sold fentanyl, crack cocaine, and crystal methamphetamine and utilized a stash house for the narcotics.
As a result of the search warrants, agents and detectives seized 1,200 grams of cocaine, 400 grams of crystal meth, 46 grams of fentanyl, and 60 grams of crack cocaine— all totaling about $180,000 in street value.
Two handguns, one stolen, and approximately $5,000 in cash were also seized.
Criminal charges, and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
