HARRISBURG – Attorney General Dave Sunday announced a lawsuit against Philly Salvage, LLC, regarding the Philadelphia-based company’s failures to complete work, primarily restoration of antiques and heirloom household fixtures.

The Office of Attorney General lawsuit against Philly Salvage (which also operates as Philadelphia Salvage) and its owner, Christopher Stock, alleges that the company entered into contracts with consumers, failed to perform the work, then refused to refund customers. Losses to consumers are estimated around $20,000.

The lawsuit seeks restitution for victims and that Stock and the companies be prohibited from operating in Pennsylvania.

“Consumers paid for services to restore precious items, and this company not only failed to perform the work, they refused to provide refunds,” Attorney General Sunday said. “This lawsuit makes clear that contracts are binding and must be honored — or my office will take action on behalf of Pennsylvanian consumers.”

The lawsuit requests the court order the defendants to:

  • Pay restitution to all people who have suffered losses as a result of the defendants’ conduct;
  • Be permanently banned from owning, operating, managing, or otherwise controlling a business with markets, advertises or sells goods or services in Pennsylvania or to Pennsylvania residents; and
  • Pay civil penalties of $1,000 for each violation of the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law and $3,000 for each violation involving a consumer 60 or older.

Consumers who believe they have been victimized by Philadelphia Salvage are encouraged to file a complaint with the Office of Attorney General online.

This lawsuit was filed by Senior Deputy Attorney General James Wise in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas.
