HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that a Monroe County man will serve 40 to 80 years in prison for a scheme that involved his girlfriend buying him firearms, which he stored, possessed on his person, or transferred.

Ramon Roldan, Jr. was prohibited from having firearms due to a prior felony conviction. Roldan, 39, was convicted in November by a Monroe County jury, after a three-day trial, of 29 felony counts of person not to possess firearms. He was sentenced Wednesday in Monroe County Court.

The co-defendant, Melissa Saldana, pleaded guilty in October to two counts of materially false written statement on a firearm application, and will be sentenced at a later date.

“This sentence sends the appropriate message that illegally possessing firearms threatens the sanctity and safety of our neighborhoods,” Attorney General Sunday said. “This sentence is the fruit of our office’s continued commitment to pursuing individuals who snub their noses at firearms laws. I want to thank our law enforcement partners for their teamwork, which led to convictions against both defendants.”

Charges were filed after an investigation by the Office of Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Overall, 28 firearms were recovered from a storage unit rented by Roldan and in other locations. Among those firearms were handguns, four ghost guns, multiple assault-style rifles with suppressors, as well as thousands of rounds of ammunition, and additional firearm accessories.

The cases are being prosecuted by Deputy Attorney General Christy Schlottman.
