AG Sunday’s Child Predator Section Secures State Prison Terms for Two Northeastern Pa. Child Sexual Material Offenders

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that two northeastern Pennsylvania men were sentenced this week to state prison terms for possessing child sexual abuse material.

Gregory Lee Yoder was sentenced in Schuylkill County Court to 9 to 20 years in prison. Edward Sabol was sentenced in Luzerne County Court to 1½ to 5 years in prison. Both men pleaded guilty to felony charges, and must abide by sex offender conditions.

“I am hopeful that these prison sentences send a message that possessing child sexual abuse material is far from a victimless crime, and will be treated as the abusive and dehumanizing criminal conduct that it is,” Attorney General Sunday said. “These sentences ensure that the defendants will spend time behind bars and will be required to follow strict orders regarding their whereabouts and activities upon release.”

Yoder, 36, was found in possession of child sexual abuse material during a search of his home last year. Agents also found methamphetamine and paraphernalia in close proximity to children who were at the home.

Yoder pleaded guilty to felony counts of sexual abuse of children and felony endangering the welfare of children.

Agents found numerous child sexual abuse material files at Sabol’s North Street home during a search warrant in February.

The cases were prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Michelle Laucella of the Child Predator Section.
