HARRISBURG – Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced today that his office has reached a settlement with Michael Caban of Angelina’s Towing and Recovery LLC and Siani’s Towing and Recovery LLC, Ricardo Caban of Aubry’s Towing LLC, and Miguel Caban and Miguel Caban, Jr. The settlement is part of a larger effort on the part of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to crack down on towing companies taking advantage of Pennsylvania consumers.
HARRISBURG – Following a four-year investigation, Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced a settlement of over $20 million with former top home mortgage lender, Trident Mortgage Company, to resolve allegations of “redlining” in the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington region. The deal requires Trident to provide individual subsidies of up to $10,000 in support of new mortgages for owner-occupied homes in majority-minority neighborhoods to qualified applicants.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced that a coalition of 50 Attorneys General, comprising 48 states, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico has reached a settlement with Equifax as the result of an investigation into a massive 2017 data breach. The investigation found that Equifax’s failure to maintain a reasonable security system enabled hackers to penetrate its systems, exposing the data of 56 percent of American adults—the largest-ever breach of consumer data. The Attorneys General secured a settlement with Equifax that includes a Consumer Restitution Fund of up to $425 million, a $175 million payment to the states, and injunctive relief, which also includes a significant financial commitment. This is the largest data breach enforcement action in history.
HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced that Pennsylvania and other states have reached a $700 million settlement with pharmaceutical distributor Reckitt Benckiser Group over allegations the company improperly marketed Suboxone and defrauded state Medicaid systems. Suboxone is a drug product approved for use by individuals recovering from substance abuse disorder to avoid or reduce withdrawal symptoms while they undergo treatment. Suboxone and its active ingredient, buprenorphine, are powerful and addictive opioids.
