Information Technology Section

Several of the varied technical classifications utilized in the Information Technology Section are Computer Systems Analyst, Database Administrator, Information Technology Generalist Administrator, and Information Technology Manager. Employees in the Information Technology Section conduct computer software training; maintain the office databases, computer networks, servers and software; provide employee support; and oversee the Office of Attorney General internal and external websites.

  • Computer Systems Analyst
    Minimum experience and training for a Computer Systems Analyst is a Bachelor's Degree supplemented by 18 college level credits in computer science; or one year of experience as an Automated Technology Trainee; or one year of computer systems analysis or two years of computer programming experience and an Associate's Degree in computer science or a Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by 12 credits in computer science (equivalent clock hours in computer science may be substituted for credits); or successful completion of the Commonwealth's Computer Systems Intern Program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 12 credits in computer science. Experience and/or training must have been obtained within the last five years to meet the requirements.
  • Database Administrator
    Minimum experience and training for a Database Administrator is one year as a Database Analyst, Applications Developer 2, Information Technology Generalist 2 or Computer Programmer 4; or three years of information technology experience, one of which was involved in the analysis, design and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration; and an Associate's Degree in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems or a closely related field; or five years of information technology experience, one of which was involved in the analysis, design and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration; or one year of information technology experience which involved the analysis, design and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration, and a Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by 18 credits in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems or a closely related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 18 credits in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems or a closely related field; and two years of experience in the analysis, design and maintenance of databases in overall support of database administration. Equivalent clock hours in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems may be substituted for the required credits. Two years of the required experience and/or training must have been obtained within the last three years to meet the requirements.
  • Information Technology Generalist Administrator
    Minimum experience and training for an Information Technology Generalist Administrator is one year as an Information Technology Generalist 2, Applications Developer 2, Database Analyst or Distributed Systems Specialist 2; or three years of technical experience providing information technology user support services in a variety of areas to include: applications development and business process analysis and network and desktop PC support services; and an Associate's Degree in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems; Microcomputer Technology, Information Technology, Desktop Technology or a closely related field; or five years of technical experience providing information technology user support services in a variety of areas to include: applications development and business process analysis and network and desktop PC support; or one year of technical experience providing information technology user support services in a variety of areas to include: applications development and business process analysis and network and desktop PC support services; and a Bachelor's Degree including or supplemented by 18 credits in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems; Microcomputer Technology, Information Technology, Desktop Technology or a closely related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 18 credits in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems; or a closely related field, and two years of experience providing information technology support services in a variety of areas to include: applications development and business process analysis and network and desktop PC support services. Equivalent clock hours in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems may be substituted for the required credits. Two years of the required experience and/or training must have been obtained within the last three years to meet the requirements.
  • Information Technology Manager
    Minimum experience and training for an Information Technology Manager is one year as an Information Technology Generalist Administrator 2, Database Administrator 2, or Applications Developer Administrator, or Distributed Systems Administrator 2 or three years of supervisory experience of highly advanced technical information technology personnel; and a Bachelor's Degree that included or was supplemented by 18 credits in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems; Microcomputer Technology, Information Technology, Desktop Technology or a closely related field; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that included three years of supervisory experience and 18 credits in Computer Science; Management, Computer or Business Information Systems; Microcomputer Technology, Information Technology, Desktop Technology or a closely related field. Graduate training in computer science or information technology may be substituted for the required experience to a maximum of one year. Two years of the required experience and/or training must have been obtained within the last three years to meet the requirements.
