Additional defendants found guilty in international car theft ring case

HARRISBURG - A Bucks County Jury this morning found two defendants of an international car theft ring guilty on all counts of criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property.

Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane said the charges against defendants Ibrahim Bah and Abdulai Daboh stem from their roles in "Operation Wheels of Fortune," which to date has resulted in the arrest and conviction of more than 20 car thieves and shippers for their participation in the ring in the greater Philadelphia area and New Jersey.

The crime ring, investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police Auto Theft Unit and prosecuted by the Office of Attorney General's Organized Crime Section, obtained many of the luxury vehicles and sport utility vehicles by stealing keys from car dealerships or through gun-point robberies or carjacking. The vehicles were then slated for shipment to buyers overseas, a number of which were recovered in shipping containers bound for cargo ships headed to West Africa.

Judge Diane Gibbons revoked bail for each of the defendants, who face significant state prison sentences. Sentencing dates have yet to be set.
