Butler County man arrested on child pornography charges
HARRISBURG - Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced that the Attorney General's Child Predator Section has arrested a Butler County man, as part of ongoing efforts to target the online sharing, downloading, and distribution of child pornography.
Kane identified the defendant as Shane Hinchberger, 25, 184 McGregor Road, Butler.
According to the criminal complaint, agents conducting an online investigation identified five illegal image files on Hinchberger's computer, which depicted children engaged in graphic sexual activity.
Agents executed a search warrant at Hinchberger's McGregor Road home on May 8, and seized electronic devices containing suspected child pornography. The items will be analyzed by the Attorney General's Computer Forensics Unit as part of an ongoing investigation.
Hinchberger was arrested following the search by agents from the Attorney General's Child Predator Section with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police. He was preliminarily arraigned before Chicora Magisterial District Judge Lewis Stoughton and held in the Butler County Prison on $100,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 14, 2013, at 1:45 p.m. before Judge Stoughton.
Hinchberger is charged with five counts of distribution of child pornography, three counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of illegal use of a communications facility.
Kane thanked the Pennsylvania State Police for their assistance with the investigation.
The case will be prosecuted in Butler County by Deputy Attorney General Anthony Marmo of the Attorney General's Child Predator Section.
