Former Apollo Borough Police Chief pleads guilty to charges he stole and sold police gun

HARRISBURG - Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane today announced that the former Police Chief of Apollo Borough, Armstrong County, pled guilty to criminal charges related to the theft and sale of police guns and equipment.

Kane said that Paul Breznican Jr., 53, 406 1/2 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Apollo, entered an open guilty plea before Armstrong County Court of Common Pleas Judge James Panchik.

Breznican was arrested in July 2012 on charges he sold a firearm purchased with federal grant money and pocketed the cash.

Breznican is scheduled to be sentenced July 18, 2013.

The Commonwealth's case was handled by Senior Deputy Attorney General William Caye II of the Attorney General's Criminal Prosecutions Section.
