Office of Attorney General arrests Montgomery County man accused of transmitting nude webcam video to undercover Child Predator Unit agent

Matthew Donohoe February 22, 2013Harrisburg, PA - The Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Unit arrested a Montgomery County, PA man accused of using the Internet to sexually proposition what he believed was a 13-year-old girl.  The "girl" was actually an undercover Child Predator Unit agent, who was using the online profile of a young teen. The defendant is identified as Matthew Donohoe, 30, 1380 Fairgrounds Road, Apt. 3, Hatfield, PA.

According to the criminal complaint, Donohoe approached the undercover Child Predator Unit agent in a popular Internet chat room, and immediately engaged in a sexual conversation with the 13-year old "girl."  Donohoe allegedly asked the "girl" where her mother was and discussed in graphic detail the sex acts he wished to perform on her.

The charges state that during subsequent online conversations, Donohoe sent Child Predator Unit agents graphic webcam transmissions, which showed his exposed genitalia as well as him engaged in sexual activity in front of the computer.

"Child predators are lurking on the Internet and they are a real and dangerous threat to our children," Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane said. "Younger children are accessing the Internet in more ways than ever before - through phones, tablets and PCs. Parents and adults need to stay diligent and help teach children to identify predators' methods for online enticement."

Donohoe was arrested on Feb. 21, 2013 at his home and preliminarily arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser. He was lodged in the Montgomery County Prison in lieu of $250,000 straight bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 27, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

Agents also executed a search warrant at Donohoe's home, and seized computer equipment and storage devices, which will be analyzed by the Attorney General's Computer Forensics Unit as part of an ongoing investigation.

Donohoe is charged with nine counts of unlawful contact with a minor, one count of sexual abuse of children and one count of criminal use of a communication facility.

The case will be prosecuted in Montgomery County by Deputy Attorney General Christopher Jones of the Attorney General's Child Predator Unit.

The Office of Attorney General thanked the Hatfield Police Department in Montgomery County for their assistance with the investigation.

This arrest was the culmination of approximately three and a half months of undercover work by the Office of Attorney General's Child Predator Unit.
